Nesting: Organization

I don't know when nesting usually occurs for most people. .  but I have been feeling it the second I found out I was pregnant.  The urgency to get my whole life organized!  My first project was organizing the baby bedroom and bathroom closets.  I picked up some great metal baskets from a wholesale account that I have($12 each).  Then spray painted them a satin nickel finish.  The fabric bins, I picked up at Wal-mart for a great deal of all places.

Here is the before of my closet in the baby's room:

Here it is now(thank goodness there is no more mint green!):

Here is the bathroom closet:

I love the baskets because even messy things look organized . . and there is still plenty of room to grow into when the baby comes!  Hope this inspires you!

Closet Revamp

When starting this project I thought I might have been crazy for repainting my entire closet . . but in the end I am so glad that I did!  Who says where you dress has to be ugly . . to be honest it makes me feel a little more beautiful!  Here is my messy, crowded, and small master closet:

BEFORE

The checklist:
  • Paint shelves and walls
  • Add wall trim with hooks
  • Add more shelves for shoes
  • Spray paint wood rods
  • Add numbers to baskets
  • organize!

AFTER

What a difference!  The extra shelves and the hooks on the wall allow for more storage.  The not so small closet feels not so small anymore!

Enjoy!!

Numbered Baskets

Earlier this summer I shared some ideas on how to organize and label Baskets.  See it again Here. Well as I continue to drool over the Pottery Barn magazine I love how they use numbers to label them.  With how expensive Antique letters and numbers are I found a cheaper solution.

Here was my inspiration:

And here is how I recreated the look:

All I did was get house numbers from Home Depot for just $3.99 each.  They have an assortment of styles and finishes.  The possibilities are endless . . now go organize your baskets!
ENJOY!

Hallway Bench

I told you a few weeks ago that I wanted to make a bench to go under my new shelf ledge . .but I did something else!  I came across a total deal at the World Market. I fell in love with the Arcadia bench . . and the best thing was the sale price!  For those of you looking for a piece of furniture I would check it out.  I was very impressed on the quality of furniture I got for the price.

Here is what my bench looks like:

And here is what it looks like in my house:

I love having a place to drop my things as I walk in the house.  I hope that you can find a killer deal on something new for your home!

Organized Baskets

I love baskets.  Especially ones that look good while keeping you organized.  While I was working on my gallery wall I picked up a few extra letters to tie on the front of some of my baskets.  (Hobby lobby $2 each!)

I just love the extra detail this gives! Take a look below for some other creative ideas on adding extras to your baskets!

{Pantry Organization}

I think I am just about done with my spring cleaning.  This week I chose to tackle my cluttered Pantry.  Take a look at the before and After's:

What a good feeling it is to have that done!  I got the organizing jars at ikea and placed a lot of my dry goods in them.  A Tip: for the things that need to be cooked I placed a piece of paper under the jar lid of the cooking directions. I got my baskets at Target.  I Painted the Back wall in coastal Jetty by Valspar found at Lowes.  Placed a 1.5 inch mdf trim on the front of my existing shelves to add room for the custom vinyl.  Had my vinyl printed by Janey Mac. I painted Masonite board with black board paint and used upholstery tacks to add detail.. I hung it on the back of my pantry door with extra hold wall tape. This new pantry kind of makes me excited to spend more time in the Kitchen.  We will see how long that lasts :-)

And Love. . .

Tip: Blanket Organizing

Organize your Blankets

I am still in spring cleaning mode . . And have an organizing tip for you!  I came across this room from Sarah Richardson and thought it was so clever!  She hung a towel bar in the bedroom.  It could be used to hold blankets (like as seen), other fresh linens, clothing and more!  I thought this idea would be great in a walk in closet as well to hang extra blankets on.  Here in Idaho our weather changes drastically so linens change often.  Enjoy the tip and send me your pictures if you create a Blanket Rack like this!
