Glazing

I finally tried it: Glazing.  In part of my bathroom re-do I wanted to give my old Pier 1 mirror a face lift.  I picked up some spray paint and Martha Stewart glaze ($5) at Home Depot.  Then I got to work spraying it, then glazing the edges.

The glazing is about as simple as its always been.  Brush on then wipe off.  I found this video to help me:

Just a few more additions them my bathroom will be ready to reveal.

A Fresh Look

Have you been searching through Pottery Barns Clearance Sale?  Well I wanted to use some of my gift cards I got for Christmas and thought it would go much further on a discounted item.  This is what I bought with my $$$:

I wanted to give my dining room wall a fresh new look so in addition to my new purchase I bought some frames and painted them.  I picked the frames up at Walmart for just $5 each.

And here is everything put together:

Instead of shoes I though I could use the ladder to show case some more of my photos and maybe even drape a magazine across.  I hope this inspires you to update something in your home.
Enjoy!

Fall is in the air and what a great activity to do is apple picking!  Find your local Orchard and see if they have public picking.

When you are through with picking you can make these cute burlap bags to give some apples away:

DIY: Kitchen Towels

DIY: Kitchen Towels

I have been on the hunt for cute kitchen towels for a while.  Unfortunately I was let down with what the stores had. . so I decided to make my own!

I also have been wanting to try the new Martha Stewart craft line at Micheals so that became my jumping off point.  Here is what i came up with:

Using the Martha Stewart stencils and fabric paint made this so easy. I just added some bright fabric to keep the towels soft.  I used Williams-Sanoma all purpose white towels because they are my fav. My creative juices are already flowing to re-create this at christmas time.  A great gift idea!
I hope you were inspired!

a project of mine was featured!
I am so flattered. .

DIY: Painted Rug

I was inspired with this project from a recent blog I was checking out . . of course I found it right before I was headed to bed . . and then I was up for hours thinkig of how to execute!  I awoke this morning and the project was done in 30 min!  What a easy transformation!  Check it out . .

I thought of some other designs I could do, but I kept coming back to the basic strpes.  I wanted it to blend well and and stick out too much!  I hope this diy project encourages you to do your own!  I believe I got my rugs at Target but I know you can find these at Ikea and in a much larger size!

Watch out for some give-aways that I will be doing on some of my favorite blogs! This is what you could win!

{weekend projects}

ahhh  . . a sigh of relief.  I was able to get a few projects done this weekend . horray!  First I want to share with you what great buys I got at the second hand store!

I have been on the look out for collecting frames to make a a collage in my living room.  I picked up all of these frames for under $15!  Just a little paint and they are good as new!

So now for my second project . . to be honest I have been putting this one off for a while because I knew it was going to take all day and all of the patience I have!  But it is done and I just love it!  Here is my version of the painted wallpaper:

I used the Martha Stewart Metallic paint again in this project.  I just love how throughout the day the painted wallpaper looks different with the changing light.  It did take me all day to do this and all the patience I had . . . but with a little good music . . . another successful DIY project was finished!
I received my inspiration from this fabric:

I made a stencil from the fabric design.  Soon you will be able to find this as a wallpaper option at Janie Mac . .i will keep you posted!  But a vinyl would save a whole lot of time . . I am now considering that in my office.  I hope this inspires you to finish those projects you are putting off. .because once again IT WAS ALL WORTH IT!

{House Rules}

I just love how this came together.  I wanted to design something that showed a little bit of what I love and what i want to live by.  I came out with this House rules sign.  I gathered all of my wood scraps and put together this base . . painted it then painted it(again) with a wallpaper design  and placed the Vinyl on top. Thanks again to Janey Mac for cutting the vinyl! Watch out for a free give away of a similar project on my blogs that i like to follow!
p.s. you know my husband is around when you see sports on the tv!
